January 2012 - New Year Transformation
I feel so blessed that another year is upon me and I'm still here, and,
as the sign at the door at the hospice where I volunteer reads, "clothed in my right mind".
I marvel that at this age I still feel myself expanding,
reaching out and beyond my own boundaries to be more enlightened. In my 20s, I thought there was some magical adult age I'd
arrive at (perhaps 40) and my "adultness" would be complete. Funny how that number kept changing over the years,
at 49, labeled by society as middle-aged, I still felt I wasn't the adult I felt I could be. Now that my life experiences
have transcended every dream or expectation I ever imagined, I know I must continue to allow my transformation, to become
the person I believe I could be.
While thinking of this month’s message I looked up and saw a saying on the top of
a historic building and it has become one of my new favorites as it reads; “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind". I believe that when one stops renewing, and is no longer open
to change and the possibilities that continue to unfold, we stop living and we are just getting through the years.
Transformation
will not happen unless we are willing: I believe it’s a choice.
The prayer I have for myself, my friends and for all
people of the world is that we become ever more conscious—aware of our meaning and purpose. I pray for peaceful pauses
within us to acknowledge our gratitude for life and all its complexities. I say thank you now for all the lessons I will receive
in 2012, and for the grace I'll be granted to handle them. May there be peace within us. May we trust that we are exactly
where we are meant to be, regardless of how uncomfortable it might feel. May we not forget the infinite possibility born of
the faith in ourselves and others. May we use the gifts that we have received and pass on the love that we have received;
this is my prayer, for all of us.
This
year I'm choosing to live beyond my wildest dreams.
I wonder where
they'll take me and where yours could take you.
Wishing you a new year filled with good health, much happiness and great
adventures!
